Istanbul is one of the most important Turkish cities at all, due to the long history that it enjoys, as this city has witnessed many different and diverse civilizations throughout its history. Many people come to this important Turkish city due to the diversity of its tourist attractions. This city is a cultural heritage par excellence, due to the fact that it has the aforementioned feature. The city’s population is estimated at about 15 million, and its area is estimated at approximately 1,800 square kilometers. The Turkish city of Istanbul is located in the northwestern part of the region known as the Marmara Region, where this city includes two main sections, divided by the Bosphorus Strait. [1] .

The most important tourist places in Istanbul

As we mentioned earlier, Istanbul embraces many main and important landmarks, of which we mention the following: [2] :

  • Chora Museum: Before this building was a museum, it was one of the most beautiful and splendid churches. In the 16th century, this church was turned into a mosque on the orders of the Grand Vizier Ali Pasha. This mosque was turned again into a museum in the last century, in the year 1948.
  • Rumeli Hisar Castle: This castle was built on the orders of Mehmed the Conqueror, who is considered one of the most famous Ottoman sultans. This castle is located on the side of the European Bosphorus.
  • Sultan Mehmed Al-Fateh Bridge: This bridge is known by another name, the Second Bosphorus Bridge. It was named after the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror. The length of this bridge is estimated to be about 1510 meters, and its width is estimated to be approximately 39 meters.
  • Gray Falcon Canal: This canal is the main source that used to supply this city with water . The length of this channel is approximately 920 meters, and this length is the length of the rest of it.
  • Yildiz Palace: Sultan Abdul Hamid II used this palace as his headquarters. It was a palace made up of many small houses, and it was a refuge for the Ottoman sultans to rest.
  • Hagia Sophia: This important building was built and built to be a cathedral in the beginning, then it was turned into a mosque, and finally, in the twentieth century, it was converted from a mosque into a museum.
