Today, Thursday, OpenAI announced the launch of the ChatGPT application for iPhone, in a long-awaited step that facilitates access to the popular chatbot.
The startup, which is strongly backed by the American technology giant Microsoft, said in a post on its blog: “Since the release of (GPT Chat), we have heard from users that they love to use (GPT Chat) on the go. Today, we are about to launch the (GBT Chat) application for the operating system (iOS).
The artificial intelligence research company stated that the (ChatGBT) application for (iOS) is free and can synchronize the chat history across devices, meaning that any conversation that takes place over the web is synchronized with iPhones, and vice versa.
OpenAI said the app includes Whisper, its open source speech recognition system, allowing users to ask questions by voice.
The company added that subscribers of its paid service (ChatGPT Plus) get exclusive access to the capabilities of the latest large language model (GPT-4) GPT-4, early access to features, and faster response times, all in the system (iOS), as well as the web.
It is reported that the app is the first official mobile app for chatbot (ChatGBT) which quickly attracted more than 100 million users after its launch last year and forced the tech industry to rapidly adapt and invest in the next generation of generative AI applications.
ChatGBT was previously available online at the OpenAI website, as well as through an API used to create third-party applications.
Apple’s App Store has previously hosted many applications that use the chatbot from (Open AI), but none of them were from the company itself.
And (OpenAI) warned in its post that the launch of (ChatGBT) for (iOS) is now available in the United States only, and it will expand to other countries in the coming weeks.
As for the Android operating system, which dominates the smart phone market, the company said that it will launch an application for it soon.
This, users can download the (GBT Chat) application for (iOS) from the (App Store) store .
