The Chinese company, OnePlus, announced its new phone, OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G, which represents a reassembly of the basic specifications of the OnePlus Nord 2 phone in a new device, where CE stands for Core Edition, which is a miniature version of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G.
In other words, it is a device that focuses on the basic essentials of a modern smartphone. This means good battery life, fast charging, a fast screen with a refresh rate and good enough cameras. There is also a headphone port.
The new device maintains a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels from OnePlus Nord 2, a 4,500 mAh battery with 65 W SuperVOOC fast charging with a charger in the box.
But it comes with a Dimensity 900 5G chipset that supports 5G networks, in addition to changing the cameras.
The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is slightly slimmer at 7.8 mm, however it is able to add a headphone port and microSD card slot both of which are missing in the OnePlus Nord 2.
The back houses the redesigned camera area with a 64 MP main lens along with an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and 2 MP macro lens. And there’s a 16-megapixel selfie camera instead of the 32-megapixel one in the OnePlus Nord 2.
The new OnePlus phone is affordable at 349 euros
Mediatek’s Dimensity 900 chipset is paired with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. While the internal storage is set at 128 GB although you can expand via the microSD slot.
On the software side, the phone runs Android 11 with the OxygenOS 11.3 user interface. The device gets two years of Android updates, and it also gets three years of security updates.
The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G comes in Mirror Gray and Bahama Blue colours. The price of the 6/128 GB version reaches 349 euros. Sales start in India on February 22, while sales in Europe start on March 10.
It is noteworthy that the company OnePlus has changed a lot. The brand originally started with one flagship phone per year that sold at a much lower price than its more popular competitors. But this has changed recently.
The company now has several flagship smartphones, such as the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, that come at a similar price to those of its competitors. It also offers a range of affordable mid-range smartphones under its Nord brand.
Another change that has occurred for OnePlus over the years is that it has become closer to Oppo, another brand run by parent company BBK Electronics.
