It is noteworthy that the climate in Qatar is divided into two halves: the first is hot and includes the months from May to October, and the second is moderate, which includes the months from December to February.   • Enjoying a high level of safety: Qatar ranks first in the world as the safest country, according to the Global Crime Index from 2017 to 2020.

The following places are among the most prominent tourist destinations in Qatar:

  • Katara Mosque: The Katara Mosque is located in the middle of the Katara Cultural Village in Doha . The design of the mosque differs from the design of typical mosques in Qatar in terms of the complexity of the design and decoration; The building is covered with a mosaic of blue bricks, in which the decorations are intertwined in red and yellow.   • Souq Waqif: Souq Waqif is one of Doha’s most important landmarks. It was designed to mimic the nature of markets in the nineteenth century. Its shops are built of mud and designed in the old style with wooden beams and thresholds.   • Museum of Islamic Art: It is characterized by a modern Islamic design, and contains many pieces of ceramics, metals, glass, ivory, textiles, wood, precious stones, coins, and Islamic artifacts dating back to the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. [9]
  • Doha Corniche: Doha Corniche extends for seven kilometers, and small wooden sailing boats are remarkably present in it, and it also includes a pedestrian sidewalk next to the beach. [10]

The contribution of tourism to the Qatari economy

Tourism contributed 0.8% of the GDP in 2012, and the state’s strategies aim to raise this percentage to 3.1% by 2030. The state also aims to raise the total number of workers in the tourism sector, whose number in 2012 amounted to about 25,000 employees at a rate equal to 1.8% of the total number of employees in Qatar, to reach 127,000 employees, or 5.3% of the total number of employees in Qatar, by 2030.
